Alnico grade 5 and grade 8 rod magnets are part of the permanent magnet family, and relatively high in magnetic strength. They offer excellent temperature stability & can be used at temperatures up to 1000ºF (500ºC). Because of their temperature stability and relatively high magnetic strength, they are commonly used for industrial applications such as rotating machinery, meters, instruments, sensing devices holding applications and more.

The alnico rod magnets are also known as alnico cylindrical magnets, alnico cylindrical bar magnets and alnico cylindrical rod magnets. They are termed bar magnets because the distance between the poles is greater than the pole face dimensions (i.e. they are magnetised in the same direction as their longest dimension). The alnico cylindrical bar magnets are supplied as either red painted or natural finish (uncoated, unpainted).
